Dr. Fortkamp hails from Bryant, Indiana and graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2021 after completing IU’s early-admission accelerated program. While in optometry school, he worked in an optics lab for three years on contact lens-related research related to controlling nearsightedness and other lens design aspects. He completed diverse, specialized training in eye care including management for glaucoma, diabetes, pediatrics, lazy eyes, and stroke/concussion patients. He also is trained in providing comfortable specialty lenses to maximize vision in misshapen eyes and post-LASIK patients. His credentials include training with various optometrists and ophthalmologists at the Indianapolis Eye Care Center; the Mooney Eyecare Centre in Mount Washington, KY; the WJB Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, SC; and the Whitewater Eye Care center in Richmond, IN. He is a member of the Indiana Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Fortkamp resides in Marion and is excited to provide comprehensive care for all ages.
When not practicing optometry, Dr. Fortkamp prefers to be camping with family, hiking, or spending time with his wife, Alaina. He enjoys community outreach and has served in volunteer roles with food banks, Habitat ReStore, toy drives, church retreats, bible studies, Haitian education, school tutoring, and is involved with the local Knights of Columbus at his church, Saint Paul’s in Marion.
